Hey Kathy
I'm quite young to have arrachnoiditis at 26 years old. I have had it since I was 24 years old really - a lot of spinal surgery, a nasty spinal infection, posterior-anterior fusion, screws out, then back in again and finally a spinal cord stimiulator was implanted last year.
I would quite happy to have contact with your daughter if she would like to chat with someone who would understand the pain etc. I have always strived to achieve despite the medical problems which I have - I currently studying for a masters in Medical Statistics and whilst I would not say that it is easy with the huge flare-ups of pain but have still managed to stay on the programme thus far.
I'm in London and have had to change pain consultants a fair few times before I got a doctor which undestood the pain this condition causes and also that I was not prepared to go onto Fentanyl patches because of the awful
awful side effects - sickness, constipation and generally like I was very very drunk.
My e-mail address is:
Kind Regards
Claire
p.s The support which I have received from my mother has been truly invaluable in everything I have achieved and it obvious from your e-mails that she has that which is really good.
