Greetings to one and all. I haven't seen too many postings on this site? I hope
that means that
everyone is doing better!
My pain had become so intense that I agreed to have a trial implant of a spinal
stimulator. It is
basically a wire lead inserted into the spine, leading to a small computer which
has custom
programs designed to relieve my pain. The trial lasts for five days. If I get
relief and want to
have the permanent implant, they withdraw the single lead, wait for a couple of
weeks, and then
implant two leads, and an implanted control computer, which has a rechargeable
battery.
There is an external device which I can use to control the amount of current,
and where it goes.
I'm very happy to say that so far it has worked wonders. I am able to stand for
much longer
periods of time. The pain in my legs and feet has been replaced by a pleasant
electrical stimulus.
I have until Monday to decide if I am going to keep it.
If anyone has had experience with this, I'd like to hear your experiences, even
if they are
negative.
Kindest regards from Tampa,
Jay M.
