Hi Wes,
"Depleted" uranium rounds refer to a specific sub-category of uranium munition.
When parsed very literally by the military spokesmen it is a chemical formula specifying a reduced U235 isotopic ratio.
By using a different isotopic ratio as in natural uranium or Low Enriched uranium the same military guy can and will look you right in the eye and lie; saying they do Not use "depleted" uranium rounds.
When, in fact, the US Expeditionary Forces are using natural or enriched uranium bombs, missiles and shells. Don't forget the 50 Cal Sniper rounds, either, or any of the 24 weapons systems using uranium for the business end of things.
This has proven to be the case in bomb craters all throughout the Middle East and Central Asia. Check out the superb articles posted recently by Dai williams.
Wes, why don't you use the word Depleted once so Google will pick it up and from then on out just say "uranium munitions or uranium weapons."
You are just advancing the cause of the Pentagon's lies to persist in using "depleted." They have moved on.
Y'all have a good demo.
Is anybody taking radiation monitors to measure the radiation on the WartHogs? That would be a stunning article.

Wes, sometimes when the A-10s "practice" (such as at Nellis AFB, NV) they use REAL DU rounds.Have you made certain that no Uranium rounds will be fired by the A-10s during your direct action in KS?Best,Cathy Garger

Hello all --
From October 13-15 will be three days of workshops and a direct
action in Salina, Kansas, focusing on nonviolent peacebuilding,
militarization and the tragic use of DU weapons. The direct action
itself will take place at the Salina bombing range where there will
be an Air Force "bombing and strafing" competition of A-10
Thunderbolts, commonly called Warthogs, which have been deployed in
U.S. military combat and training actions to fire 30 mm depleted
uranium shells via Gatling style machine guns..
The three-day event is called "The Heartland Speaks," sponsored by
several peace groups, according to two organizers, Janie Stein and
Martin Bates, activists in Salina. For more information you may
contact them at hopenow1@... and martinbikes@... and visit
http://www.salinapeace.org/ -- More information on the workshops and
direct action is below.
