Hello all --
From October 13-15 will be three days of workshops and a direct action in Salina, Kansas, focusing on nonviolent peacebuilding, militarization and the tragic use of DU weapons. The direct action itself will take place at the Salina bombing range where there will be an Air Force "bombing and strafing" competition of A-10 Thunderbolts, commonly called Warthogs, which have been deployed in U.S. military combat and training actions to fire 30 mm depleted uranium shells via Gatling style machine guns..
The three-day event is called "The Heartland Speaks," sponsored by several peace groups, according to two organizers, Janie Stein and Martin Bates, activists in Salina. For more information you may contact them at hopenow1@... and martinbikes@... and visit http://www.salinapeace.org/ -- More information on the workshops and direct action is below.
