It is a sad fact that most people pay little attention to their

It is a sad fact that most people pay little attention to their
health until it is at risk. It is only then that people truly
realise that health and wellbeing is far more important than
money, and that all the money in the world cannot always buy
health.
When it comes to our health prevention is obviously better than
cure, it is better to take care of our bodies throughout our life
and avoid illness than to abuse our bodies and then realise how
precious our health is when it might be too late.
Our health and the state of our bodies is essentially determined
by our choices - our diet, exercise, environment, everything
about our lifestyle. There are some factors determined by
genetics but we control the key aspects of our health and life.
Even when our health is suffering because of factors we cannot
control (like disease) we can still exert a positive influence on
our lives by living a healthy lifestyle. By watching our diet and
eating pure foods and beverages filled with natural minerals and
vitamins, by exercising regularly, by living as we are designed
to live - in harmony with the world.
Over 50% of people suffer from digestion related diseases - but
when we consider how much 'junk' we eat that should be no
surprise. Many people take the easy route of eating sugarry,
starchy, fatty, and greasy unnatural foods and we will pay the
price with our health. It is only when we pay this price that we
appreciate how foolish our diet was.
It is incorrect to look at food in a black and white way saying
some foods are good and some are bad, in actuality most foods are
beneficial in some way if taken in moderation. For example a
glass of red wine is good for the heart, and smoking a cigarette
is good for digestion, but if you were to eat several vitamin
rich meals, you may actually encourage the growth of malignant
cells in your body!
Another factor for our physical health is our mental health,
although it is oversimplified to separate them, because they are
so interconnected. Our emotional status affects our health and
stress contributes to so many diseases - cancer, heart attacks,
mental diseases, etc. In the developed countries (USA, Japan, and
Western Europe) mental diseases and disorders are the number one
reason for disabilities.
For instance, depression can be considered a minor disorder - so
many people suffer from it for years and since they are still
alive, it cannot be that dangerous. Yes, it is true, that one
does not die immediately of depression, but when people are
depressed, they either eat more (chocolates, fat- rich foods) or
refuse to eat at all, which in turn impacts their physical
health.
We are surrounded by pollution, noise, and radiation in our daily
lives and all of this have a negative effect on our health. We
cannot hide from these things but we can occasionally get away
from them by going to parks or the mountains where there is clean
air and peace.
Sports and exercise are proven friends of health. Moderate
physical activity at least two times a week is relaxing to body
and soul for old and for young. Besides burning calories, regular
exercise helps one feel happier and in good shape. This in turn
affects positively his or her health.
