We're Back! Issue

As most of our readers are aware, all the folks at Breath and Shadow
are disabled, which gives us a unique perspective on disability
culture. However, this also means we sometimes have to deal with time
lags due to illness, treatments and recovery. The latter has been the
case for the past few months. Our Editor Emeritus, Sharon Wachsler,
found in April that working on B and S was taking too large a toll on
her recovery, so she has decided to step down from her official duties
at the mag, although I'll still be pestering her with questions and
requests for editorial advice. At the same time, our invaluable web
master, Norman Meldrum, was hospitalized, so without his expertise we
missed our May and June issues.

ROSC (Resources for Organizing Social Change) has recruited a new web
assistant, and I'd like to take this opportunity to formally welcome
Scott Blackburn to our team.

In this issue of Breath and Shadow, B and S editor Stephanie Green
shares three of her poems, A Sense of a Man, You and You, and Essay.
Selina O'Brien explores her disability from a unique vantage point in
her creative non-fiction piece, Birthweek. Driving Without A Map is
Gary Bloom's review of the book, Is It Me Or My Meds? by David Karp, a
Professor of Sociology at Boston College. Ilana Jacqueline's short
story, Scream, is a compelling glimpse into one writer's anxieties,
while It's OK Not To Be OK by Teri Zucker shows another.
