This is the week!

Get ready for the vote this week! The compromise that was reached on
May 17th was a start, and we have only a few more days to rework the
bill for the better. The amendment process will continue, with a
vote expected at the end of the week. We are working to improve the
bill with amendments that follow our core principles. Our final
product needs to make legalization truly accessible, honors family
reunification and protects workers.

There is an historic opportunity to achieve immigration reform, and
we must encourage Congress to do it now and to do it right. The plan
that was introduced on May 17th is not perfect. That bill, the
Secure Borders, Economic Opportunity and Immigration Reform Act of
2007, is a good starting point for us to move forward and fight to
achieve the improvements our community needs. Comprehensive
immigration reform is within our reach and we would not have gotten
this far without your help. This is the moment to achieve change,
but your Senators need to hear this message every day. Be sure to
call and voice your support for comprehensive immigration reform
every day this week. You will make the difference!
