Welcome to the MS newsgroups. I also have MS and was diagnosed in December
1983 when I was 33. MS varies from person to person so do not think any two
cases are the same.
There are many sites online that have articles on MS. Each of the
pharmarceutical companies that make drugs to treat MS have online sites and each
present teleconfernces with information as well as what is offered at their
site.
I am on Copaxone a daily injection to help me control my disease
progression. I have been on it since I first entered the US clinical trial on
10/17/93.
It turns out I was on the drug, not the placebo from the onset. Copaxone is a
daily injection with few side effects for most people.
There is life after MS.
Nikki, if you have fears or questions about possibly having MS, I would
suggest speaking to your doctor about further testing to tell you or to ease
your mind. It never hurts to ask questions or read what you can about MS as
well.
Be careful about whether you are reading credible online sites or just a site
posted by an individual.
The MS society urges all MSers to be on one of the treatments for MS to
control the disease progression. Early treatment is recommended.
Hope to chat with you soon or email me directly.
Good luck.
Joanne
