hanging in there!

Hi everyone! This is old Granny Red and I'm still kicking. I've graduated from
my cane to my wheeled walker with a nice big wide seat on it (to match my
behind) so I can plop down when necessary. I'm still getting by on neurontin,
but mayhap this is what makes me feel so dopey. It's not a bad feeling, just
pleasantly woozy, whenever the pain isn't too bad. My doctor, who has MS, too,
doesn't seem to think I need the shots yet. I hope never, but will face that
when it comes. My doctor thought I seemed depressed, and prescribed Wellbutrin.
That was awful stuff. I felt like my head would explode. I don't FEEL depressed,
so was advised to use St. John's Wort instead. That's OK. There are times when I
wonder if a bottle of good old scotch wouldn't do as well. No, just spoofin'.
Hang in there all of you , and if you get knocked down, just come up swinging!!
On Christmas Eve, I beheld an event that made my heart glad. After dinner, as we
opened our presents, there was a little boy in our midst who was just ten years
old. He was in his wheelchair, and as he was presented with each gift, he would
open it, and shout and clap his hands, and such joyous laughter! He would thank
each person for their gift, and proceeded to enjoy himself hugely the whole
evening until his little body became exhausted and they had to take him home.
This little guy was born prematurely and suffered nerve damage. He has had many
surgeries, the last one (a very difficult one) at his own request, as he wants
to be able to walk and play. I was reminded of Tiny Tim in Dickens "A Christmas
Carol". It made me really appreciate the fact that I can still walk, if somewhat
wobbly. It made Christmas very real to me.

God keep you all. Granny Red. (turning gray) !
