The Australian & New Zealand Mental Health Consultation Liaison Nurse Network is an unwieldy, but descriptive, title for this email network. Given the nature of this mental health sub-speciality, Nurses working in this field are usually pretty independent practitioners and often don't have regular contact with peers who share the CL Nurse experiences & interests.
The aim of the email network is to link peers for an exchange of information and ideas, with a view to improving communication & support for Australian & New Zealand Mental Health Consultation Liaison Nurses.
The email network has been adopted as the preferred mode of communication for the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses (ACMHN) Consultation Liaison Special Interest Group (for those who are fans of abbreviations: ACMHN CL SIG).
The email network originally spluttered to life back in February 2002, but didn't generate much momentum until the 1st CL Nurses Forum which was held in Melbourne in May 2003. Membership grew steadily after that through word-of-mouth recommendations, new CL Nurses finding out about us via internet searches, and promotion at Consultation Liaison Nurse Forums: Cairns in June 2004, Adelaide in May 2005, the NSW/ACT CL Nurse Forum held in Sydney in November 2005, the 1st CLSIG Conference held in Melbourne in May 2006, & the 2nd CLSIG Conference held in Sydney in June 2007.
The email network is not moderated (ie: uncensored), but nuisance posts (abusive, racist, sexist, advertising etc) will not be tolerated. We take pride that the tone of the email network has been always casual, generous & supportive.
No matter where you live & work, if you're a Mental Health/Psychiatric Consultation Liaison Nurse you are very welcome to join our email network; the most expedient way to do so is to send a blank email from your work email address to:
