Teoma,
Welcome to the Alabama WAPF group on Yahoo.
So nice to hear from you. I am in far NE Alabama, about 45 miles NE of Huntsville.
I have shared your pilgrimage in trying to get healthy food and it is a challenge. Finding a healthy source for raw milk is especially difficult. When we lived in Atlanta, I worked with other members of the local Weston A. Price foundation chapter to make "milk runs" every two weeks. Since Georgia allows raw milk sales for "pet consumption" we were able to develop a source that met our criteria for cleanliness and proper handling.
I have not been able to get that done yet in Alabama, since we just moved here in August.
Since I prefer raw goat milk, I have been ordering it from a Grade "A" dairy in SC.
By the time it gets shipped here, I have about $13.00/gallon in it. I was paying $7.00 per gallon, plus a delivery fee in Atlanta for cow's milk.
If you want to try the goat milk contact Split Creek farm at http://www.splitcreek.com/
If you are looking for more extensive information on fermented foods or special diets, you might find someone in the Atlanta chapter that knows of source in your area. You can visit them at
As our group develops, I hope we will have the same expertise locally. The beauty of the internet is that we can talk with experts through just a few clicks.
There are many resources available at the Weston A. Price website, but sometimes they are a little difficult to find.
Let me know if you have any problems.
