This 3 day intensive seminar is designed for ASL interpreters who are
highly motivated to provide medical interpreting for Deaf, Hard of
Hearing, and DeafBlind patients. The seminar will include exciting
workshops such as "DemandControl Schema" and "The Use of ASL classifiers
in Medical Settings."
Opportunities for hands-on activities and role-playing with actual
doctors and patients in the Emergency and Surgery Departments of Mount
Sinai Hospital will be available for seminar attendees. The seminar will
also provide an opportunity to discuss mentoring possibilities and an
independent study opportunity with a six-month follow up.
