ADARA FORUMS PRESENTS "MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES IN SCHOOLS FOR DEAF
AND HARD OF HEARING STUDENTS"
As part of the continuing series of on-line forums, ADARA will be
offering a session on mental health services in schools for deaf and
hard of hearing students. The will be led by Asiah Mason, Ph.D, and
Beth Betman, PH.D on Monday, November 20th at 8:00 PM Central Time
(9 PM Eastern time, 6 PM Pacific Time) in the ADARA Chat Room.
Dr. Mason and Dr. Betman are both on the faculty at Gallaudet
University, Department of Psychology and have an interest in
comprehensive education and mental health programming for deaf and
hard of hearing children and adolescence experiencing emotional and
behavior problems.
This session will focus on how current state of mental health
services in schools that have deaf and hard of hearing students. Just
as there is tremendous variability in the level and quality of
educational services in schools, there is similar variance in mental
health services.
On December 18th, Robyn Dean will lead a discussion on "Observation-
Supervision: A Method of Mentoring Professionals. "Other exciting
forums are in development and will be announced in the weeks ahead.
If you missed the previous forums, you will find transcripts on the
ADARA website. In response to consumer requests, some or all of the
online chats next year will be during the day. Save the third Monday
of each month for these exciting chats. Times are tentatively set
for 1:00 PM Eastern, 12:00 noon, Central, 11:00 AM Mountain and 10:00
AM Pacific times.
