ADARA FORUMS PRESENTS "THE CARE AND FEEDING OF THE LOCAL NOT - FOR -
PROFIT SERVING DEAF PEOPLE"
As part of the continuing series of on-line discussions, ADARA will
be offering a session on leadership and fundraising for programs and
agencies working with deaf and hard of hearing people. The
discussion on "The Care And Feeding Of The Local Not - For -Profit
Serving Deaf People" will be led Lynne Murray, on Monday, September
18th at 8:00 PM Central Time (9 PM Eastern time, 6 PM Pacific Time)
in the ADARA Chat Room.
This discussion will be will an opportunity for Ms. Murray to share
with you leadership theories and best practices for fundraising. This
presentation will not only describe the fundamentals for you but will
give you information from an experienced practitioner about what
works and what doesn't work.
Lynne Murray is Director of Development at Gallaudet University in
Washington, D.C. and has served at Gallaudet since 1997 when she
began as Associate Director for Corporate and Foundation Relations
and later as the Assistant Executive Director of Development she
helped lead the University to success in its first-ever Capital
Campaign exceeding the $30 million goal by $9 million. ADARA wants
to remind members that continuing education credits will be awarded
for members who participate in the discussion. Each session will be
worth 1.5 contact hours. Please be sure to check the website
(www.adara.org) prior to the discussion for information on how to
obtain CE credits. More enhancements are planned, including expanded
CEU eligibility.
On October 16 President Steve Hamerdinger and President Elect David
Tout will facilitate a discussion on the "State of ADARA." All
members are encouraged to log on and share their views.
On November 20th, the topic will be Mental Health Services in Schools
for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Students" led by Beth Betman and Asiah
Mason and on December 18th Robyn Dean will led a discussion
on "Observation-Supervision: A Method of Mentoring Professionals."
Other exciting forums are in development and will be announced in the
weeks ahead.
