Deaf Domestic Violence Symposium - 2006

Domestic Violence treatment services for the entire family. SDDMHS is an
on-site partner with the Family Justice Center of San Diego County(FJC).
www.sandiegofamilyjusticecenter.org
<http://www.sandiegofamilyjusticecenter.org/> Victim services are
provided at FJC and a 52-week Domestic Violence Treatment Program for
perpetrators is provided at another location. SDDMHS strives to end the
cycle of violence by providing specialized services for deaf and hard of
hearing clients and their family members. SDDMHS is a member of the San
Diego Domestic Violence Council and is a certified DV treatment provider
by the Department of Probation.

For- Professionals working with the Deaf Community in the field of
domestic violence or those interested in Deaf DV issues. CEU's will be
provided. This symposium will be a unique opportunity for sharing
information on how to help your clients and their families break the
cycle of violence. This symposium will be limited to 75 participants in
an effort to be able to meet and learn from one another. Deaf services
programs across the United States are located far from each other and
our goal is to develop communication and support while sharing what we
have learned, so that we can all provide the best services possible to
our clients. One of our keynote speakers will be former District
Attorney, Casey Gwinn who founded the Family Justice Center and has been
a strong advocate of providing services to deaf and hard of hearing
victims. Mr. Gwinn will talk about the President's initiative to
implement 15 other FJC's across the United States and our effort to
include deaf services at all 15 sites.

When and Where - Friday November 2nd & Saturday November 3rd, 2006. San
Diego Family Justice Center. The FJC is located in downtown San Diego
just minutes from the airport. Our office is within walking distance of
several hotels, restaurants and a shopping mall. The bus and trolley
provide transportation to Balboa Park, the Zoo, Museums and Sea World
which are all less than 20 minutes from downtown. You will have an
opportunity to tour the FJC and meet top experts in the field of
domestic violence. Friday night we have a special event planned at a
local nightclub which will be included in the registration. For those
