Subject: Appointment of Director, Hard of hearing/Deaf Services
We are very pleased to announce that Roger Williams has been named as
Director of Hard of Hearing and Deaf Services which is part of the
Office of the Medical Director. He will administer the statewide program
comprised of a comprehensive array of individual and family services
delivered by more than 20 Deaf Services counselors. Mr. Williams brings
excellent organizational skills and English/American Sign Language
proficiency to this office. He is well respected within the Deaf
Community and has a positive national reputation. His appointment was
effective May 2, 2006.
Mr. Williams earned a MSW from the University of Illinois where he
majored in community mental health services and has served in various
capacities in DMH for fifteen years. Roger is married and the parent of
four deaf children and two hearing children. He is currently
co-president with his wife, Sherry, of the American Society for Deaf
Children.
