MONTGOMERY -
Alabama received an overall grade of D in a new analysis of state mental
health systems from the National Alliance of Mentally Ill organization
(NAMI).
The report did commend Alabama for strides in mental health system and
three recent innovations , one of which highlighted interpreter training

DMH/MR has also reached out in a progressive way to the deaf community,
including training a number of interpreters on how to respond
effectively to individuals with serious mental illness who are deaf.
