Hyperactivity disorders are more common in deaf and hard of hearing
children than in hearing children.
Deaf children with hyperactivity disorders have poorer academic
attainments, based on parental impression.
Deaf children with low communication competence ratings are not
disproportionably represented among deaf children with hyperactivity
disorders.
By negative inference, this lends support to the hypothesis that
biological factors are more likely to account for the difference.
