Governor Riley has proclaimed the month of September National Alcohol
and Drug Addiction Recovery Month. During Recovery Month communities
nationwide join together to help recognize that alcohol and drug use
disorders are treatable diseases.
The celebration is open to the public and it's FREE.

You can choose to attend any one of the following presentations.
"There is Hope: Recovery from Substance Abuse and Mental Illness" Mayor
Willingham will talk about his struggles on the road to recovery.
"Never Start" Lexie Turnipseed and Frank Winkler, Lighthouse Counseling
Center will conduct a prevention presentation on self esteem; where does
it come from and where does it go, for children ages 6-12.
"The Recovering Community; Making Life Saving Connections"
Steve Davis, Lighthouse Counseling Center and Rob Thornhill, Montgomery
Job Corps Center will discuss treatment options available, Alabama
Recovery Network, and spiritually-based fellowship such as AA/NA.
"Signs and Symptoms of Substance Abuse" and "It's a Family Affair"
Beth Wyatt, Chemical Addictions Program and Russ Killion, Bradford
Health Services will discuss the signs and symptoms of substance abuse
and how it affects the entire family.
