Enrollment is limited and classes will be filled on a first come, first
served basis. If a course is cancelled and the participant cannot be
placed in another course, the fee will be refunded in full.
Special Group Fees
An organization registering five or more people as a group will receive
a 10% discount. Group registrations must be sent together in the same
envelope. JSU students may register for only $150 per person.
Scholarships
The Alabama Department of Education has provided a number of full
scholarships for state and local education employees.
Full scholarships have also been provided for employees of the Alabama
Department of Rehabilitation Services.
Cancellations and Refunds
Cancellations after June 1 are subject to a 25% cancellation fee.
Refunds cannot be made after the program has begun. A substitute
participant may be designated in place of a registrant who cannot
attend. Jacksonville State University reserves the right to cancel,
postpone, limit registration, combine class sections, or change
instructors.
Continuing Education Units
Continuing Education Certificates will be awarded to participants upon
completion of core courses at the Appalachian School for Alcohol and
Other Drug Studies (22 contact hours).
Approval by Professional Associations
The Appalachian School has been designed to meet the requirements for
professional development. Twenty-two contact hours have been applied for
by the following organizations:

5. Campus Housing will also be available in Sparkman Hall with suite
style rooms. Bring all linens (sheets, towels, etc.) and necessary

Rates do not include tax. Other motels in Anniston and Oxford are
available and are located approximately 20 miles from Jacksonville State
University campus.
Location
ApSADS is located in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in
beautiful Jacksonville, Alabama on the campus of Jacksonville State
University, conveniently located near Atlanta, Birmingham, and
Chattanooga.
Recreation
Gold's Gym will be available for $10 while attending AsPADS. This does
not include the tanning bed.
The campus is located adjacent to the Chief Ladiga walking/biking trail,
a Rails-to-Trails project extending approximately 30 miles.

Special Populations
Interpreters will be available for the deaf community. Individuals
seeking accommodations/modifications under ADA/SEC 504 should make such
request to registration services in writing by May 16, 2003.
Special Interests
Chief Ladiga Trail is located minutes from Jacksonville State University
and is ideal for bike enthusiasts.
