TITLE: Community Programs Manager, TREAT Asia
(Therapeutics Research, Education, and AIDS Training in Asia)

DURATION: 1-3 years, or duration of funding grant
The Community Programs Manager plans, coordinates and implements
community education programs in TREAT Asia countries focusing on
HIV/AIDS treatment literacy and treatment preparedness, initially in
China, Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand. You work with in-country non-
governmental organizations (NGOs) to organize, deliver, and then
evaluate HIV/AIDS community education programs.
As Manager, you research community HIV/AIDS service organizations to
identify health-provider and public education needs, and recommend
selection of appropriate forums and training content to fulfill
program objectives. You assume responsibility for all logistics of
events including determining program venues, arranging for
speaker/educators, and coordinating travel needs. You design and
develop all program education materials, including presentations and
participant handouts.
You will develop evaluation tools to determine the effect of programs
and educational materials and compile and analyze feedback from
participants, providing amfAR with written reviews of events and
adjusting program content based on evaluations.
You assist in managing the Bangkok office and supervise support
staff. You serve as moderator/facilitator at educational programs
when needed, and supervise volunteers at events. You maintain files
on individual events and programs, and provide information and
reports to amfAR offices.
QUALIFICATIONS:
As a candidate you will have a minimum of 3 years experience working
in the HIV/AIDS field, especially in education or policy
administration. You must have good written and verbal communications
in English. It would be helpful to also be knowledgeable in at least
one Asian language. If you have prior work experience in Asia, that
is as a plus.
Prior experience in event and meeting planning is helpful, as is
office management or supervisory experience. You must have excellent
interpersonal and organizational skills. Sensitivity to HIV issues
and different cultures a necessary skill, as is familiarity with
other public health and HIV/AIDS policy issues. Relocation to
Bangkok and significant travel within Asia are required.
