UNODC Fellowship for International Conference on the Reduction of   Message List

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) are seeking
recommendations for people to join a fellowship program for fully sponsored
participation in the 15th International Conference on the Reduction of Drug
Related Harm (15th ICRDRH).

The 15th ICRDRH will be held in Melbourne, Australia from 20-24 April 2004.

Recommendations are welcome for delegates from the following countries:
Cambodia, China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore,
Brunei, Indonesia, the Philippines and representatives of any Pacific Island
States.

This fellowship program is part of the ongoing development and coordination
of the UNODC regional project. This UNODC regional project works towards the
reduction of HIV vulnerability from drug abuse and includes the pursuit of
sustainable networks of national interests in the area of drug related
harms. The Fellowship Program is managed by the Centre for Harm
Reduction/Macfarlane Burnet Institute (CHR/MBI) with support from the
Government of the Netherlands.

The fellowship is for full participation at the 15th ICRDRH therefore it
includes registration, airfare and associated taxes, insurance,
accommodation, subsistence allowance and visa costs.

Recommended delegates must be notable persons working in the field of harm
reduction from either the health or law enforcement sectors. Recommendations
must be for a team of two or more people in multi-sectoral partnerships,
comprising of both the health and law enforcement sectors i.e. one or more
delegates from health partnered with one or more delegates from law
enforcement. All individuals included in the recommendation must be able to
demonstrate evidence of previous participation in harm reduction activities
and commitment to further work in harm reduction.

Please include the following details in your nominations:

- Full name of each nominated individual
- Job title, designation and department of work for each nomination
- Full address of each nomination's place of work
- A short description of the individual's past and current work in the harm
reduction field
- A list of previous international conferences attended by each nominated
individual
- A list of any national level committees, task forces or working groups
relevant to harm reduction that each individual is on
- Full name, job title, contact e-mail address and place of work of the
person making the nominations

The closing deadline for submitting
nominations is 28 February 2004. Submissions received after this date will
not be accepted. All submissions will be notified regarding acceptance into
the Fellowship Program in early March.
