Job description:
APN+ is currently looking to hire a regional coordinator, the
successful candidate for this challenging and rewarding position
should have a proven track record in HIV/AIDS program management, a
thorough understanding of the HIV/AIDS epidemic within the Asia
Pacific region and excellent communication shills. The APN+
Secretariat is located in Bangkok and currently has a staff of five
full time employees.
About APN+
APN+ is the only regional network that represents the concerns of
people living with HIV and AIDS, with direct contact to national
networks of people living with HIV/AIDS in countries in 27 Asia
Pacific Region.
APN+ currently receives and manages grants and projects on behalf of
the POLICY Project, Levi Strauss Foundation, Tides Foundation,
American Foundation for AIDS Research and the Australian Red Cross/
International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
All projects aim at empowering and educating positive communities.
Objectives of APN+
- To provide a strong, pro-active voice & advocate on behalf of
PLWHA in the Region.
- To lobby for meaningful representation of PLWHA on all relevant
decision-making bodies.
- To facilitate communication & exchange of information between
PLWHA.
- To provide opportunities for PLWHA to develop a range of skills
and build capacity.
- To give visibility to PLWHA in order to overcome the fear,
ignorance and prejudice they face & to counter all forms of
discrimination against PLWHA.
- To lobby for improved accesses to treatment, care & support.
Requirements:
- Education background in public health, NGO or a related field
preferred.
- Extensive experience and a proven track record in regional
HIV/AIDS management;
- Minimum of five years in a senior supervisory position;
- Proven expertise in community development and personnel management;
- Demonstrated understanding of financial management and resource
mobilization issues;
- Demonstrated expertise and knowledge in HIV/AIDS related work,
particularly in relation to PLWHA related work;
- Demonstrated understanding of the issues facing PLWHA in the Asia
Pacific Region.
- An excellent command of oral and written English;
- Proficiency in at least one Asian language is highly desirable.
- Able to travel internationally.
People who are living with HIV, and particularly women living with
HIV, are strongly encouraged to apply for this challenging and

Roles and Responsibilities of the Regional Coordinator:
- Ensure the country representatives and key country contacts are
kept informed of the activities of the Network;
- Implement the policy and decisions of the steering committee and
those made at the Annual General Meeting or Special General Meetings;
- Provide advice and support to national networks and strengthen the
communication ties between them and other key stakeholders and
regional partners;
- Ensure the secretariat office is managed effectively and is
accountable and transparent;
- Provide effective communication on the work of the Secretariat to
the network membership, Steering Committee, donors, public and other
partners;
- Develop rapport and strengthen new and existing partnerships;
- Regular reporting to the network membership via email with
progress updates and quarterly reports;
- Facilitate and coordinate delegation and participation at meetings
where APN+ is represented and ensure the Network is kept informed of
the outcome of such meetings, as well as ensuring a gender balance
in representation;
- Supervise and manage any staff members, consultants or temporary
staff or volunteers employed by APN+;
- Overseeing the day-to-day management of APN+ finances, in
consultation with the Treasurer and ensuring that sustainable
funding is maintained.
