5th TREAT Asia Network Meeting

TREAT Asia is pleased to announce its 5th annual network meeting.

This year's working meeting is scheduled to take place in Bali,
Indonesia on October 14-15, 2005.

A welcome dinner is scheduled for the evening of Thursday, October
13.

Over the course of two days, the full network will examine and
discuss the progress and developments of the past 12 months.
Presentations will include the following:

-a progress report on the TREAT Asia HIV Observational Database
(TAHOD);
-a report from the First TREAT Asia Regional Meeting on Pediatric
HIV/AIDS;
-an overview of the TREAT Asia Quality Assurance Scheme for
laboratories;
-an update from the TREAT Asia/HIVeDucation online pilot program in
India;
-a look at the current research and policy issues on HIV prevention.

Along with TREAT Asia representatives, this meeting will include
medical professionals and researchers, potential funders, government
officials, members of the community, representatives from the
pharmaceutical industry and others. The TREAT Asia meeting is open
to anyone who would like to attend.

5th Annual TREAT Asia Network Meeting
Day: Thursday, Friday and Saturday
Dates: 13-15 October 2005
Place: Westin Bali Hotel
Bali, Indonesia

TREAT Asia is a network of clinics, hospitals, and research sites
working together with governments, the private sector and civil
society to ensure the safe and effective delivery of HIV/AIDS
treatments throughout Asia and the Pacific. To achieve its purpose,
TREAT Asia seeks to: conduct research on appropriate treatment
regimens, train healthcare workers, educate affected communities,
and build regional collaboration and policy capacity.

Currently, there are 26 research sites from throughout the region
participating in the network. In addition to the research sites,
TREAT Asia includes 4 regional PWA organizations along with the
National Centre in HIV Epidemiology and Clinical Research at the
University of New South Wales in an advisory role.
