Producers screen each other's HIV/AIDS documentaries
Sep 02, 2005
A project to create a network of Asian TV producers working on
HIV/AIDS issues recently took another step. Eleven young producers
from the region recently met in New Delhi, India, to attend follow-
up training workshop and review each other's documentaries.
The most recent training took place from August 22 to 26. The Asia-
Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD) is organizing
the project in cooperation with UNESCO.
The diverse group of producers hails from Cambodia, China, India,
Indonesia, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam. They first met
at a training workshop held in April in Thailand. There they
received their assignment: produce a short, creative documentary on
HIV and AIDS.
The follow-up workshop in New Delhi gave them the chance to watch
and analyze each other's work. All the participants work for the
national TV outlets of their home countries. Besides agreeing to
support production, the channels also will air the documentaries.
AIBD says the films will be available on a DVD in October.
