Announcement: Short Course on "Evaluation of Behaviour Change Programmes In The
Context Of Emerging Reproductive & Sexual Health Issues"
Dear Friends,
Child In Need Institute (CINI) & London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine
(LSHTM) are pleased to announce the 1st Short Course on "Evaluation of Behaviour
Change Programmes In The Context Of Emerging Reproductive & Sexual Health
Issues" to be held between 13th and 18th December 2004 in Kolkata, India.
Worldwide Reproductive and Sexual Health (RSH) programmes today are aiming at
changing behaviours. However, evaluation of behaviour change interventions
remains a challenge to professionals and institutions. Most of the recent
behavioural intervention designs are drawn upon established theories/models
addressing the complexity of behaviours. Many of these theories have not been
tested adequately in developing country settings and need to be adapted to the
particular needs in each locale.
The course aims at addressing this critical gap by facilitating participants to
become more effective by adopting a systematic approach to both intervention and
evaluation of behaviour change programmes in the context of emerging RSH issues.
The course will focus on various aspects of behaviour change, including
determinants of behaviour and behaviour change, and how these affect programme
evaluation.
The course is open to professionals working in programme design, management and
evaluation in the field of Reproductive and Sexual Health in the South Asian
Region.
Please find the brochure of the course at
http://www.cini-india.org/brochure.
Application form will be accepted online at
http://www.cini-india.org/applform.
The last date for registration is 15th November 2004. However, we encourage
international participants to apply as early as possible so that the necessary
travel formalities can be completed in advance.
We would appreciate if you could forward the announcement to others who may be
interested in participating in the course.
With regards,
Dr.K.Pappu
Additional Director
Child In Need Institute.
