HANSAR - HIV/AIDS Nutrition Intervention Strategies in the Asian Region.
A HIV/AIDS nutrition network of health care workers/professionals and PLWHA in
the Asian region.
Dear Health Care Professional,
INTRODUCING HANSAR
Who are we?
The Albion Street Centre is a government funded community based centre in
Sydney, Australia, dealing exclusively with HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis C clinical
management, nutrition, nursing, counselling, research, prevention and education.
The Nutrition Development Division of the Albion Street Centre (ASC) has
proposed establishing a Nutrition and HIV Network in the Asian region.
The HANSAR Proposal
We propose that a regional specific network be established to map current
HIV/AIDS nutritional intervention strategies. The aim of this network is to
provide resources for health care professionals and people living with HIV/AIDS
in the Asian Region. The HANSAR - HIV/AIDS Nutrition Strategies in the Asian
Region project will gather information on various nutrition intervention
programs currently being undertaken in this region as they relate to HIV/AIDS
and share this information with other network members.
The Challenge
Nutrition intervention plays a key role in reducing the effects of HIV.
Currently in the Asian region there is a need for a system of mapping and
supporting HIV/AIDS Nutrition intervention strategies as they relate to five key
areas:
* Food Security projects
* Nutrition Health Promotion activities
* Nutrition and Anti-Retroviral Therapy
* Symptom Management using nutrition
* Food and Palliative Care.
HANSAR aims to map these intervention strategies and distribute this valuable
information amongst its members in the Asian region.
The Asian Region
Initially we plan to map activities in Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, East Timor,
India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar (Burma), Nepal, Papua New Guinea,
Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam. This region is set to expand, with
further plans to include the Pacific in this network.

information bellow.
What You Will Receive
The HANSAR network will provide participating individuals and groups access too:
* Subscription to a mailing and email list,

The overall consequence of this shall be a better information assistance network
that can provide useful strategies to aid in the nutritional treatment of not
