COUNTRY DIRECTOR - PAKISTAN
ActionAid is an international development organization with a
mission to work with poor and marginalized women, men, girls and
boys to eradicate poverty, injustice and inequity that cause it.
ActionAid International has work and presence in more than 40
countries in Africa, Asia, Americas and Europe. We work in
partnership with CBOs, NGOs, social movements, peoples organization,
urban and rural communities and activists. ActionAid International
engages with governments, international development organizations
and private companies to ensure pro-poor policies, programmes and
practice. Our poverty eradication programs focus on equity, dignity
and rights of poor and marginalized people and communities and on
the core themes of gender inequity, food security, education,
governance and HIV/Aids.
We are looking for a committed and competent leader in Pakistan to
strengthen our innovative work with marginalized and vulnerable
people and communities so as to advance human rights and social
justice. The Country Director will have a proven track record in
leading and managing institutions and development programs and have
an experience of either being part of social movements or being an
active member of the civil society. She/He will adopt empowering
management practise to expand and deepen our partnerships,
programmes and accountability in Pakistan.
Actively committed to gender equity, our Country Director will be
value driven and be a team player possessing high level of people
related skills. She/He will have the perspectives and competencies
for rights-based and policy advocacy work; fundraising and donor
relations; regional and international linkages and a sound basis of
organizational development. She/He will be familiar with the local
scenario of struggles for poverty eradication and socio-political
change. Courage of conviction in taking public stands against issues
of injustice and an experience of dealing with governance boards
would be an asset.
This is a senior position based in Islamabad with frequent travel to
the field and fair amount of international travel. The candidate
must have excellent communication skills in one or more local
languages and in English.

CAMPAIGN COORDINATOR
Job Title: The Millennium Development Goals (MDG)
Principle Consultant
Organization: The Millennium Campaign
Base: Flexible
Term: Immediate Contract (expected 18 months)
Role ? To support the MDG Campaign through:
1) Alliance Building
2) Developing Advocacy Initiatives around the MDGs in the Asia-
Pacific Region with a special focus on South Asia.
3) Linking existing campaigns (National and Local) around the
MDGs, targeting governments, policy makers and opinion leaders
4) Coordinating and managing communications at the regional
level and across national-level campaigns
5) Building coalitions for action within and across the Region
6) Identifying opportunities for new partnerships with civil
society and other development partners
7) Supporting the Advisor to the UN Millennium Campaign
Proven experience in alliance building, campaigning and advocacy in
the Region and understanding of Civil Societies and Movements,
particularly in the high priority countries (India, Bangladesh,
Nepal, Pakistan, Indonesia and Philippines) are essential. Women are
encouraged to apply. The candidate should possess an excellent
understanding of the Millennium Development Goals, Trade,
Governance, Human Rights, Social Justice and Gender Equity, and
should have a minimum of 7 years experience in development and human
rights work
People with leadership qualities and the ability to travel
frequently, work independently as well as in teams, who can work
across distances and committed to working on issues of development
and rights may apply. They should possess excellent interpersonal,
networking and communication skills. Fluency in English both written
and spoken is essential and knowledge of languages spoken with Asian
region would be an asset. Experience of working in multicultural
environments in the Asia-Pacific and internationally within the
development sector would be highly advantageous.
