A Regional Institute on "Sexuality, Society, and Culture" September 15-22, 2004
New Delhi, India

About the Resource Centre

The South and Southeast Asia Resource Centre on Sexuality, aims to increase
knowledge and scholarship on issues of sexuality, sexual health and sexual well
being in this region. The Resource Centre specifically focuses on sexuality
related work in China, India, Indonesia, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Thailand, The
Philippines, and Vietnam. A regional Advisory Committee provides inputs on
country specific needs. Similar centres are located in Africa, Latin America,

practitioners, and researchers, to better understand, examine, and expand upon
the complex issues surrounding debates on sexuality.

About the Regional Institute - "Sexuality, Society, and Culture"

The goals of the Institute are to: 1) develop a deeper and more coherent
theoretical understanding of sexuality and its connections with other issues,
including gender and rights, and 2) examine assumptions on which practitioners
base their work within a South and Southeast Asian context. The course
materials and discussion will be in English.

The Institute will conceptually examine and explore a variety of topics through
lectures, discussion, films, and exercises. This course will seek to understand
the implications of the current debate on sexuality issues and its links to
culture and society in a regional context. Topics include:
