I have been nominated by Seven Sisters, with the support of APN+, to give a
plenary presentation at the 9th ICAAP in Bali.

My plenary presentation will take place on the afternoon of Day One (August 10,
2009 from 14.00 – 15.30).

The session is titled: “Health System Strengthening and Sustaining the
Response and I have been invited to speak about Strengthening Health Systems
Through Greater Involvement of Community.

I will be presenting along with Dr. Michel Kazatchkine, Mr. Keizo Takemi and Ms.
Jintana Ngamvithayapong-Yani.
 
For my presentation, I would like to include models of how various communities
in Asia (e.g., PLHIV, MSM, SW, IDU) have contributed to strengthening health
systems in their communities/countries.

I would appreciate your support in providing examples and models of how
community involvement has helped contribute to strengthening healthcare systems,
on local, regional, and national levels.

These examples could be from community involvement in health systems via HIV
prevention, treatment and care.

Please kindly send me a brief description of the models you know.
 
In addition, any suggestion of published research articles on this topic for me
to review would also be greatly appreciated.

Due to the time limit of the presentation, I will only be able to include a
small number of regional models, but I will try to share about as many as
possible.
