The Global Network of People Living with HIV/AIDS (GNP+) is proud to
announce the successful completion of the Chinese translation of its
manual "Positive Development: Setting up Self-Help Groups and Advocating
for Change, A Manual for People Living with HIV". Printed copies are now
available for distribution world-wide.
"Positive Development" is a capacity building and self-empowerment tool
for the development and maintenance of community-based organizations
that provide support and self-help for people living with HIV/AIDS.
Authored by people living with HIV/AIDS from all over the world,
"Positive Development" has been widely acclaimed as a vital resource for
helping people living with HIV/AIDS become involved, establish or
redirect their own groups, improve their capabilities, or share their
abilities with others. Working with "Positive Development" has a strong
positive impact on organizational capacity building. This aspect of the
manual also makes it useful for experienced trainers and facilitators.
According to UNAIDS, China currently has one of the most rapidly
expanding HIV epidemics in the world. The publication of "Positive
Development" in Chinese thus could not be timelier. It would not have
been possible, however, without the help of the International Federation
of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and the Australian Red
Cross (ARC). We owe a special thank you to Ms. Audrey Swift, HIV/AIDS
Coordinator for the East Asia Regional Delegation of the IFRC, who
managed the process at all evels: from sourcing funding to overseeing
translation, editing, and printing. We are also highly grateful for the
translation and editing work of Mr. Li Guozhi, Ms. Dilbar YASIN, and Ms.
Xiong Chun Mei, staff of the ARC working in Yunnan and Xinjiang
provinces.
GNP+ makes "Positive Development" available for free. If you are
