Global AIDS Programme Director
Salary $55,000 -$65,000 depending on experience & relocation package
Based in Lusaka, Zambia
Panos is a dynamic network of autonomous institutes developing and applying new
thinking on the role of media and communication in development.
The Panos AIDS programme has a history of producing cutting-edge analysis on key
issues within the response to HIV/AIDS and is recognised as a pioneering
organisation challenging existing strategies and approaches to fighting the
epidemic.
Within the remit of the Global AIDS Programme, offices in Southern and Eastern
Africa, the Caribbean, South Asia and Europe work on a coordinated set of
activities around the core theme of ownership, participation and accountability
in the response to HIV/AIDS.
We are now looking for a director to provide vision and leadership to the
programme. This is a new role. You will be responsible for establishing many of
the structures within which you work and supporting the progressive scaling up
of the programme's operations. You will also be responsible for coordinating
our current programme of activities and sharing the experiences gained by Panos
with an international audience, through a range of activities, including a high
profile series of editorial outputs.
Person Specification:
You need at least 7 years international experience in the field of HIV/AIDS with
specific experience in the role of media and communication in a developing
country context. You should also have at least 3 years experience in a senior
management position with direct responsibility for people and budgets.
You must have strong inter-personal skills, proven networking and negotiating
skills, experience of fundraising from international donors and the ability to
present complex arguments accessibly galvanising support amongst a wide range of
audiences.
You must be fluent in English and ideally in at least one other relevant
language.
