Hi again, I forgot, when we play Wheel of fortune, we have big letters of the alphabet on a wall, and take down
the letters that are used as the game goes on to remember what was used.

Thanks for the info.........I just might have to buy some more frogs myself. I'm planning to update "Activities on a Shoestring" in about 4 weeks (after my mother's visit is over). I think I'll put this link with the frog toss game section.
Boy, do I feel silly! I guess NASCO no longer carries the bean bag frogs............but you might check out the toy section of your local stores. They may have bean bag type frogs that could be used for frog toss.
Good luck in your search.

I started doing it at my facility. We got a blue sheet and sewed green felt lilly pads on it. We purchased the beanie frogs from Nasco. Our residents would toss the frogs toward the lilly pads. You will find frog toss on "Activities on a Shoestring" website. I don't know if it was a game before I started doing it at my facility. We got a blue sheet and sewed green felt lilly pads on it. We purchased the beanie frogs from Nasco. Our residents would toss the frogs toward the lilly pads. Of course, the object of the game was to see how many frogs you could get on the lilly pads. If you want to keep score, assign values (5, 10, 15, etc.) to the lilly pads. If you want to make it more interesting, add numbers to the frogs..........a # 2 frog on a #10 lilly pad = 20 points!
On March 1st (National Pig Day), we turned the sheet over and put patches of brown felt on it. The residents then threw pound piggies at the 'mud puddles'. Over the years, we made pig ears for the residents to wear (tan and pink felt with elastic cord) and added a hog calling contest.

the jingo games we get from seabay games they are like bingo but they use pictures instead of numbers and you call out clues, the who has the bag game i got from this group a guy from australia i think anyway we usually buy like two bags of goodies each being no more than $5 in contents, you have two decks of cards 1 deck you pass out to the residents according to how many is playing just make sure everyone has the same number of cards and that you dont
have any left out of that deck if you do by chance end up with a couple of extra cards then find their matches in your deck and take them out. then you start calling from the top of your deck for example you call 9 of spades and mrs. susie has it well then she turns in her card and gets to pick which of the 2 bags she wants but she can't open it then say you call 4 of hearts and mr. jones has it then he gets to pick a bag lets say he wants mrs. susies bag well he can and it keeps going like that until the last card it called and whichever resident is left holding the bags win the bags my residents love this game!! what is name ten and frog toss?

hi everyone. i am having a problem, my residents are telling me that they want to have new games to play. i give them a variety of games monthly. we have 3 different group activit ies daily plus daily exercise, bible study, and sensory groups. the games that we play is horse race, baseball, jingo, bingo, noodleball, aggrivation, who has the bag, grocery game, word puzzels, tell all, penny ante, pitching pennies, memory, 10 card draw, drowning nickels, bowling and i think that is it. i am at a

I have asked them at council but they say we don't know we just want to play something different and you meaning me find something new. they don't have no suggestions. i have spoiled my residents they know it and i do too. lol!! drowning nickels is like a carnival game i get a table set up with ten cups half full of water and set them up on the table just lining them up differently. the resident is handed 10 nickels to try and throw in the cups. the resident who gets the most nickels in the cups at the end of the game wins the roll of nickels that we used which is $2 we go by their abilities as to how far they have to be from the table when they throw. the grocery game is like bingo there are different items on the cards which kinda look like grocery lists with 5 items on them then you have a master card that looks like a board game with different items all around the board and a dice. we usually go around the room and call each residents name who is playing and say
mrs. smith i rolling for you and say you roll a 3 then you move 3 spaces on the master board and say you land on bread then you call bread and whoever has it on their card they cover it, the first resident to fill their card hollers "i got my groceries" lol and they win a quarter then we start over and usually we play about 6 games

Last year, I came in the night before the 4th of July & we had
watermellon (around 7:00) then we went outside & did *small*
fireworks. (Ok'd by the Admin) ... I found cute watermellon invites,
filled them out and hung them through the facility so families would
see them. We had a GREAT turnout. Most of the family came for supper
& stayed for the watermellon. - However, most family members left
when we went to do fireworks... but the CNA's really came through -
they helped greatly!

I too am working Memorial Day. We are doing a BBQ for the residnets and staff
only.
Normally, I work the holidays, our Adm likes one of us to be there on big
function days.
(There are two of us Dept heads for Act). Sometimes I take an extra day off
but not always.

When I was the only one I would rotate holidays and work some of them.
On those that I did not work I would often recruit family members to do
whatever they had a talent for. Remember, there will be lots of
families in and out on the holiday and lots of social time for even
those roommates that don't have family.
