Hi, my son is 7 and has been diagnosed with ADHD for a year and a
half. He is doing wonderfully with his medication, but having
trouble with school. His problem is that he hurries through his
work in class (I think because it is easy for him) and then can't
seem to stay calm. He is disruptive and when it is time for him to
be quiet for his literature group (reading and writing) he isn't
able to stop playing around and settle. My husband and I are
thinking about talking to the doctor about a slightly higher dose of
Ritalin, but I am not sure that will help. I don't want to OVER
medicate him. I just need some advise on what we as his parents or
even with his teachers can do to help him learn how to control
himself. I would like him to learn how to remember when it is
appropriate to be silly and play and when it is time to be listening.
Thanks
Josi
