Hi my name is sam,im a single mum of 2.My 9yr old son was diagnosed
with adhd when he was 6.Its been an uphill struggle from the day he
was born.He had a fit when he was 2wks old it was called a 'breath
holding attack'.I know that it contributed in some way to how he is
today.He was put on concerta at first they appeared to work then it
was like he bacame immune to them.The school were getting more
concerned with his behaviour,disrupting the class & being generally
noisy.So his psychologist put him on ritolin.Within a week of being
on ritolin he had made a friend which was great but 1 afternoon the
friend talked him into setting fire to the school.I thank god that no
one was hurt or killed.The debilitating part of adhd is for a child
to want a friend so badly they will do anything to get them,i am
fully aware that it isnt the only thing i have seen so many different
aspects of this illness & i know how it has affected the people
around us.I am writing this as now my son is in a special school & he
is on concerta again,the tablets are doing nothing for him.Most
nights he has trouble going to sleep.I just need to know if there is
a tablet or anything out there that could help him,i love him so much
he is my world but this adhd controls his life & its not fair..& if
anyone would like to talk to me that would be great as i feel so
alone.
