melissa-
i feel like that all the time...i have been diagnosed since i was 7(i am 20 now)
and yes my parents are supportive of me and encourage me to stay focused and
whatnot, but there are still many times when i feel very alone. I think it may
be that i don't have any friends that have adhd so i feel like i'm swimming
upstream by myself. I know i feel very much like my parents have no idea what
i'm living with, but one of the classes i took last year helped me out. I made a
resource guide focusing on ADHD...i got an A+ on it, and i had my parents and
close friends take a look at it, and at least they all seem to have a better
idea on what is going on...when doctors say the more you and your family members
know about it, the easier is really is to cope and adjust and deal with life.
let me know if this was helpful...if you would like a copy of my sources that i
found helpful just let me know!
Elisabeth
