Hi, my name is Stacy and I am in Oklahoma. My son is five and was
diagnosed with ADHD. He started being a handfull when he was three.
They had him on two generic ridlyn and now on ridlyn. The adderall
gave him bad dreams. I have been telling them I am giving him the
ridlyn but am not. I keep asking them for stratera or something but
they say we have to start out with these and if they do not work,
then we try something else and work our way to it. I think this lady
is gung ho on the ridlyn, she seemed against the stratera. The first
two did not work, and they made him so bland, he didn't even want to
play. And this ridalyn I gave it to him a few times, but it seemed
to do about the same thing. The first hour or so he is on it, he is
tooo quiet and layed back, not a kid at all. So I stopped and am
waiting for the time we go back so I can say this one is not working
either. The adderall scared me alot. He follwed me everywhere, and
couldn't be in a room by himself, not even to go to the bathroom. He
was too scared, but he didn't know why or what of. When I first got
the ridlyn for him, he seemed to be doing fine. He was better in
school and still played and didnt follow me everywhere and even
started sleeping in his own room again. But sometimes he just dont
seem himself. I want the stratera for him but how do I make them
skip all the other things and get to that? Or do I have to go
through the whole process? And for how long? The lady doc he has now
is not easy to work with. She also believes that he should only take
it for school and dont need it for the summer, but having him on and
off it, is bad for him in my opinion, he gets cranky and difficult.
And don't she think I need a break too? I am in school full time,
take care of the house and it is hard when I am cleaning and he is
going right behind me messing it up again all the time.
Also, when the lady diagnosed my son, she told me she thought the
depression I was being seen for was actually adult ADD. However when
I went back to my psy he don't see it. I went thought Zoloft, Paxil,
and two other meds, but nothing worked. Finally my sister had it too
and tried Wellbutrin, and said it worked great. So the next visit I
walked in there, and said this is working for my sister so this is
what I want. Stop wasting my time with this other stuff that dont
work. So they gave it to me. And it did work some. Then they
increased it when I went back. And it seems to be working even
better now. However, there is still the forgetting things, because I
often even forget to take it. I put it right next to the refrig so I
would remember, but still seem to sometimes forget it. Someone could
tell me I need to be somewhere in 4 hours, but then I get so caught
up on something I forget till I am late or missed it. I hate being
this way. I was also told by a friend that the Wellbutrin also helps
with adult add, is this true?
