I just came in this morning from meeting with so called "school
administrators" (principal, asst. principal and counselor) at my son's
school. It was a horrible meeting that left me practically in tears.
I felt completely insulted at their insinuations that I am not doing
all I can for my son because he had a bad week last week. Has anyone
had any problem with their child(ren)'s school? Any advise. I sat
there literally defending myself and everything that I am trying to do
to help my son. It turned into a shouting match. I supposed if I had
sat there and let them say things like "you need to be consistent with
his medications" and "if his medication needs to be changed you need
to call the doctor. . . ." Do these people think I am an idiot?? He
was diagnosed since last year, we've gone through group therapy, he's
been on ritalin and changed to Concentra last week, I've asked my
doctor for a referral to get my son to start seeing a counselor - yet
these so called "administrators" who claim they know about ADHD start
questioning my commitment to my son's health. I found this totally
insulting and feel frustrated because I am unsure of what recourse, if
any, I have with respect to their rude manner of dealing with this.
Their response was "well we have other kids with ADHD . . . . "
Any advice????? other than transferring my son. Thanks!
