Hello everyone! My name is Mandy. My son was diagnosed with ADD back
in October with having ADD. I am still struggling with his school to
help me. I was wondering if anyone else has this problem? I put alot
of faith in them, but now I am starting to get really mad, because I
do not feel he is getting the education he should be considering we
are 1/2 way thru the school year or better. They have known for 3 1/2
months of his ADD and still have not called a meeting with me?! I am
meeting with his teacher only on Thursday. & I have alot of questions
for her, but does anyone have any good suggestions on the type of
questions I need to ask her. I have about 4 pages already about why
they haven't contacted me & does she really think he has benefited
from her teaching style. But I am at the angry mother stage. Because
my son has the right to learn just like any other child does. Just
because they have to alter their teaching with him, doesnt mean he
should suffer. She publically punishes him for not finishing his work
in class. She "picks his apple"(which is her form of punishment in
her classroom) & doesn't give him prizes like the other children
because he doesnt finish his work on time in class. Well, because he
doesnt get the extra time he is suppose to be allowed, he is not
going to finish on time. He never brings a prize home or comes home
without his "apple picked"! It discourages him & he is extremely
unhappy! He has gone from loving to go to school to asking me &
begging me everyday to stay home. He says, "I cant do what the other
kids do in class, mommy." Talk about a broken heart! I have printed a
lot of things off the internet about what she needs to do in her
class with him, but can you guys help me on some questions I should
ask her? Thanks for listening!
Angel Hugs,
~Mandy
