Sensory Learning Center
Information Sheet

For over a decade, the Sensory Learning Institute in Boulder,
Colorado, has helped children and adults address learning problems
associated with developmental delays, acquired brain injury or
disorders affecting sensory functions. The Sensory Learning Program
relies on the fact that our sensory perception is the foundation for
our understanding of the world and people around us. Academic
abilities, behavior and emotional growth all rest upon essential
sensori-motor organization.

The Sensory Learning Center located in Encinitas, California is a
licensed provider of the Sensory Learning Program. We are currently
the only certified center on the far West Coast, which includes
California, Washington and Oregon. It offers a highly successful
drug-free approach to developing learning abilities: it's shown to
be highly successful with sensory issues present across a wide
spectrum of populations including:

Learning and Behavior Problems Autism/PDD
Acquired Brain Injury Birth Trauma
Sensory Integration Dysfunction ADD/ADHD
Developmental Delays Learning
Enhancement

The Sensory Learning Program is a multi-modal approach that
simultaneously stimulates the visual, auditory, and vestibular
systems with light, sound and motion challenging the primary sensory
systems to work together and better adapt to multi-sensory input,
the foundation of all sensory processing.

The Sensory Learning Program has been highly beneficial for
enhancing sensory integration, sensory activity levels, oral motor
development for speech and language, auditory processing and visual-
spatial skills.

The distinct advantage of the Sensory Learning Program is its use of
simultaneous, repetitive, sensory activation integrating visual,
vestibular, and auditory training to promote supra-modal perception.
Each separate therapy has been studied and validated by extensive
independent clinical use and documentation.

In simultaneous presentation, the benefits of the three therapy
modalities provided are more than the sum of the parts. Theories of
child development suggest that sensory processing must attain a
level of organization called Supra-Modal Perception in which
multiple streams of sensory information become a unified experience.
Perception is not grounded in the separate domains of sight, sound
and balance. The developing child learns to process patterns of
sensations when the sensory systems are exchanging information,
giving the child immediate perception of a unified experience. Many
areas in the brain must respond at the same time to two or more ways
of receiving information. By presenting multiple sensory inputs,
supra-modal perception can be enhanced.
