My 13 year old son has ADD and Dyslexia. He is a bright and very
social boy. He gets along very well with people and has lots of
friends. My problem with him is organization and procrastination.
He has a lot of trouble doing things in a timely manner. In fact, he
has no sense of time. He manages to still do well in school because
he IS a perfectionist when he does get started but it's getting him
to stay on task that is killing me!! I am always telling him to get
started on his homework, etc. I feel like a drill sargeant sometimes
in stead of his mother. He goes to a very high powered school and
has lots of homework. He is forever getting to bed late and has
difficluty getting up in the morning. He has never been put on a
medication for the ADD because he also has an issue with low growth
hormone. The endocrinologist said that he could go on medication for
the ADD but I am scared that the medication may alter his
personality. I also deal with the issue of ADD with my husband and
older son(they are both doctors). It's incredible to me how very
smart they are but they still exibit both the disorganization and
procrastination behaviors like our youngest son. I'm starting to
burn out after years of dealing with this problem. What can I do to
help myself? I love them all very much but I'm mentally and
physically exausted! HELP!!!
