Corruption spinning out of control

This is going to be the first of several posts on this topic.
Towards the end
of this post there are addresses to protest to concerning this type of
corruption spinning out of control. I feel people should send these
posts to
anyone that they know and start a major protest campaine.

Harvard University's Dr. Joseph Biederman is a highly-influential
researcher at
Harvard University. He has spearheaded a 4000% increase in the
diagnosis of
pediatric bipolar disorder from 1994 to 2003. This resulted in
billions of
dollars in revenues for drug companies and millions of children being
put on
mind-altering medications. Now, thanks to an investigation by the
office of Sen.
Charles Grassley and a damning report published in the New York
Times, it has
been revealed that Dr. Biederman lied about the amount of money he
received from
drug companies, a figure that may exceed $1.6 million. So for the
last decade he
has been a major policy maker and trend setter for the medicating of
our
children without us or our doctors knowing of the massive conflicts
of interest
at hand. He is entitled to take his fees and we are entitled to know
of it. If
we or our doctors had known this, it might have effected our decision
making
process. For him to conceal this information is a form of lack of
informed
consent. Which is the precise intent of this law. When involved in
drugging our
children, this is inhumane and criminal.

In the conflict-of-interest documents submitted to Harvard Medical
School, Dr. Biederman vastly underreported funds received from
multiple drug companies. In one instance, he reported a payment from
Johnson & Johnson of just $3,500 when, in reality, company records
show J&J paid him $58,169 in one year alone (2001). Before this story
went public, Dr. Biederman sought to modify his conflict-of-interest
records. When pressed by Sen. Grassley's investigators, he made
retroactive changes showing an additional $1.6 he had previously
failed to disclose. These disclosure might never have happened if
Sen. Grassley's investigators had not started asking questions about
the financial links between drug companies and Dr. Biederman.

Psychiatric doctor violates federal law
Failing to disclose such large sums of money in conflict-of-interest
forms is a violation of federal law, and if the National Institutes
of Health (NIH) applies existing rules and regulations in responding
to these charges, it could deny all future grants to the organization
that provided additional funding to Dr. Biederman, Massachusetts
General Hospital, which administered $287 million in grants in 2005.
The NIH requires researchers to report earnings of over $10,000 per
year on
conflict-of-interest forms.

But rather than being arrested for criminal behavior, Dr. Biederman
and another colleague caught in the same financial scandal have
been "referred to a university conflict committee for review,"
reports the New York Times. In other words, their punishment might
consist of nothing more than sitting on a couch in a room with other
psychiatric
industry leaders who will discuss the issue and do nothing in
response. Will Dr.
Biederman be fired from his job? I doubt it.

As part of his drug-pushing efforts, Dr. Biederman has openly
advocated non-approved uses of mind-altering drugs on children,
encouraging doctors to prescribe pills for many disorders even though
no FDA
approval has ever been granted and no research has been done. This is
called
"off label" use and any child(or adult) that has been given a drug
under these
circumstances has been a human guinea pig in an uncontrolled human
experiment.
This did not stop Dr. Biederman from pushing for the widespread
prescribing of
drugs for "off-label" use for "off-label" conditions. This includes
their use on
infants and very young children. Thanks in large part to Dr.
Biederman's
apparently financially-motivated efforts, sales of drugs used to
treat "bipolar
disorder" doubled from 2003 to 2006.

Recruiting Four-Year Olds for Medical Experiments
Dr. Biederman isn't merely on the take from drug companies, he's also
actively engaged in using children as young as four years old for
medical experiments. His current recruitment efforts attempt to round
up four- to six-year olds who are diagnosed as bi-polar(?) and dose
them with
Astrazeneca's Seroquel to see what happens to their brains.

I'm certain that Dr. Biederman does not consider himself to be evil,
cruel, or
corrupt. But every sociopath throughout human history has justified
his own
inhumane actions as a way of bringing a brighter future to the world.
Dr.
Biederman likely believes that by medicating young children with mind-
altering
drugs, he is giving them "treatment" that results in "normalized"
brain
function.


Four-year olds who are diagnosed with bipolar disorder are not
suffering from
pharmaceutical deficiencies. They are suffering from junk food diets,
widespread
chemical toxicity (from personal care products), dangerous food
additives,
dangerous medication side effects, adverse vaccine reactions, violent
TV
programming, their mother's prenatal exposure to toxins, the debased
nature of
the modern diet, and a public health system that believes only in
treating
symptoms of disease and not teaching parents how to raise healthy
children. To
make our children healthy, we must first start with what they eat.
Change the
food served in public schools (and private homes), and many so-called
mental
health disorders simply disappear. Most disorders or diseases in
modern
psychiatry is a result of bad nutrition combined with poisoning from
chemicals
or heavy metals from the environment, vaccines and dental fillings.
We need to
change the mind-set of what food is. Over the last thirty years the
mind-set
of what psychiatry is has changed from talk therapy to medication.
What is there
was a true, concerted effort to change our attitudes about what
eating is?

While Dr. Biederman and the drug companies want to diagnose infants,
children and teens with various brain chemistry disorders that
require medication, they openly ignore the real root of the problem:
Nutrition,
exercise, natural sunlight, and the elimination of toxic chemicals
from foods,
drugs and home environments.

Help Stop Dr. Biederman from Harming More Children
You can help put an end to this massive corruption. Everyone should
write to the
following institutions demanding that Dr. Biederman be fired from his
job and
banned from receiving any future federal grants. Here are three key
organizations that you can contact to write a letter of outrage about
Dr.
Biederman's deceptive behavior and criminal actions. They are:

This is the huge government-run grant-giving organization that uses
taxpayer dollars to fund such medical experiments on children. When
you write the NIH, demand that they stop providing funding to
psychiatric researchers who conduct medical experiments on children.

Witness the Depth of Corruption in Modern Psychiatry
It is frightening to see how much the psychiatric industry admires the
drug-pushing campaigns of Dr. Biederman. The depth of entanglement
and
corruption is displayed by the description of his "achievements"
listed on the
websites of the Mass. General Hospital. It reveals that Dr.
Biederman, now an
admitted liar and violator of federal conflict-of-interest laws, is
truly one of
the most powerful and influential researchers in the field of
psychiatry today.

Among the awards that have been given to Dr. Biederman are "Best
Doctors in America" and the CHADD "Hall of Fame." Has CHADD come out
and
condemned him? In the mid-nineties CHADD was receiving one million
dollars a
year from the pharmaceutical industry. Was this out of the goodness
of their
hearts, or are they just another pro-pharma lobbying group?

The following is what is posted about Dr. Biederman on the
Massachusetts General

Dr. Biederman has been the recipient of the American Psychiatric
Association Blanche Ittelson Award for Excellence in Child
Psychiatric Research, the American Academy of Child and Adolescent
Psychiatry Charlotte Norbert Rieger Award for Scientific Achievement.
He has been inducted into the CHADD "Hall of Fame". Dr Biederman has
also been selected every year since its inception into the "The Best
Doctors in America" compilation of the best physicians in the
country. From 1985-1995 Dr. Biederman served as Co-Chair of the Work
Group on research, American Academy of Child and Adolescent
Psychiatry. He is mentor to more than 12 junior investigators in the
field. Dr. Biederman is on the editorial board of multiple journals,
a reviewer for most of the Psychiatric journals, and has served as a
grant reviewer in the Child Psychopathology and Treatment Review
Committee of the NIMH. He is the author and co-author of close to 500
papers, scientific articles, 70 book chapters and more than 450
scientific abstracts. In 2000, Dr. Biederman pioneered and
established a Stanley Foundation Center at the Massachusetts General
Hospital dedicated to the treatment of pediatric bipolar disorder.
Dr. Biederman's work is supported by multiple federal and
pharmaceutical industry grants. During the decade of the 1990's, he
was the fourth highest producer of high impact papers in psychiatry
and the highest ranked child psychiatrist as determined by the
Institute for Scientific Information (Science, 2000, Vol 288, pg
959). Dr. Biederman was the recipient of the 1998 NAMI Exemplary
Psychiatry award. He was also the recipient of the 2002 NARSAD Senior
Investigator award. Since 2002 Dr. Biederman has been appointed as an
associate editor to the journal Biological Psychiatry.

What isn't mentioned in all these achievements, of course, are other
statistics:

• The tens of millions of children harmed by psychiatric medications
each year.
• The diabetes and obesity caused by psychiatric medications.
• The violent school shootings and suicides related to psychiatric
medications.
• The permanent harm caused to the brains of children being forced to
take psychiatric medications.
• The billions of dollars that have been taken from families and
taxpayers by drug companies who profit from the sales of mind-
altering medications.

The time has come that Dr. Biederman should be removed from the
society of
practitioners and put out to pasture. If the email boxes of Harvard
Medical
School, Massachusetts General Hospital, and NIMH explode from emails
from all
around the world, it may help send a message.
