The school's goal is to provide both scholastic and vocational programming in a
therapeutic environment for those students who were not able to succeed in a
formal school environment due to either scholastic or social difficulties.
Lachan's co-ed population is comprised of students who are by and large from
orthodox homes, but they themselves are not. An individual educational program
is designed for each student - thus students are not grouped by age, rather, by
scholastic ability. There is a bagrut and non bagrut track available. As a
part of the school day, students learn daily life skills, responsibility, and
participate in a variety of non academic programs (chuggim).
Graduates have the option of staying at Lachan and participating in a pre -army
preparation program (mechina ). All graduates are given proper direction and
guidance as they continue on to their next stage of life.

There are three different programs in which a student may choose to participate:

Part time program; designed for students who work part time
Day program - not including dorm
Full program - including dorm

It is important to note that there is no ulpan program for olim chadashim,
however 50% of the student population are English speakers. Horses are on the
campus as part of their animal therapy program.

Lachan is recognized by Misrad Hachinuch. A student need not apply by way of
the local Social Services office of his community (Revacha) or Social Worker.

I was impressed by my visit there, but you have to realize the nature of the
school and who it is meant for. Yoni was very approachable and upfront.

I know an 18 year old boy- bilingual Hebrew and English- with dyslexia who
is very bright and did very well on his gemara bagrut but he is has serious
dyslexia and doens't really read a gemara page on his own. he does well by
having a chavruta that doesn't mind diogn the reading, and he contributes
orally. Do you have any recommendations for a GOOD yeshiva- he is a serious
student

I know this is an adhd group- but I thought someone may have some ideas for
me to recommend

It is called lachan

It is not just for LD but for any kids that have not fit into the system.

Yoni riskin does amazing work I have no firsthand knowledge of the place but
have seen some of the plays they put on. The staff is very devoted
