At our clinic and in my practise I frequently receive reports about different
reactions and different responses to medications. We often notice that an
individual [e.g., a child] who may feel that he/she benefits [e.g., enhanced
ability to concentate and focus, enhanced ability to attend, and a general
calming effect] from taking the regular Ritalin, often claims that he/she does
not notice the same benefits from either Ritalin LA or SR or from Concerta.
Also, "rebound" effects - if and when they occur - tend to vary greatly from
person to person.
In most cases, the only way to discover how an individual responds to the
different types of stimulant medications is by working with an experienced
physician/psychiatrist/neurologist, who is able to guide you through trial
periods with each medication, and where the dosages are adjusted.
