Ritalin vs Concerta?   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #1499 of 2083 |
Hi,

I remember discussions on Concerta in the past, but don't remember what was said
(and it wasn't relevant to us then). My son has been on Ritalin now for 10
weeks or so (we finally gave in and decided to try medication), and there has
been a marked improvement in his behavior.

We have been giving him 1/2 a 10mg tablet in the morning, and a second dose 4 or
so hours later. We started the LA Ritalin yesterday so that it will be easier
and we won't have to rely on his teacher (1st grade) to give a pill. He doesn't
seem to be as good on the LA (they're supposed to be the same aren't they??) He
has a bad rebound effect on 10 mg and LA when the medication wears off and is
even more difficult to handle.

It was suggested that we try Concerta with him and told it would last longer and
that there should be less rebound. Does anyone have any advice/experience to
share with us on this matter? (And is there a major price difference between
Ritalin and Concerta?)

Thanks,

Rochie
