Dear ....
If you look at my son's report card, you might not think there is
any problem. His grades are good and the teachers all have nice
things to say about him.
He really wants to do well in school and be a good boy. He
succeeded in that but was miserable in the process. He went late to
school many times, as he had a very bad feeling about going to school
and would delay it as much as possible each morning.

He is average or above in intelligence and a well behaved boy and
wants very much to do well in school.
But he is really not enjoying school due to his sensitive nature and
his lack of social abilities. He needs more attention from teachers
to help him get along with other children in the classroom (i.e. if
someone bumps in to him by mistake or knocks his pencil off the desk
he takes it very hard. He won't do anything because he does not want
to fight and get in trouble but he also doesn't have the social
know-how to deal with such a situation and the teachers don't respond
to his pleas since they don't have time for "petty" issues which to
him are not petty.) The kids in his class are really nice, good kids
(exceptionally) so no one makes him feel bad or left out on
purpose. But they don't go out of their way to include him so he
remains excluded since he can't or won't do what it takes to get in the game.

He also needs organizational help and tips on how to do assignments
and reports so he doesn't feel so totally overwhelmed by every school
assignment. I have been sending him to a private tutor who works on
this with him, but it would be so much more effective if his teachers
could give him these tools which other kids seem to acquire more naturally.

He is below level in writing abilities and can't express himself well
either verbally or on paper.
