Hi Dianna....
I'm so sorry to hear of your misfortune with your doctors, sometimes
they can be more insensitive than most would ever care to imagine!.... I
know!.... <sigh>
Do you have the book Fibromyaliga Syndrome- The Survivors Handbook? - There
is a complete text list on how to file your disability form in there, you
could also try writing to Fibromyaliga Network.com and request your needs,
they're pretty great about helping everyone out....
If by chance you shouldn't find it let me know and I'll try to photoscan the
copies out of my book for you, ok?....
To all of you I wish a very happy and painfree holidays, it indeed would be
the greatest gidt in this world....
Always, Cheryl in Colorado....wishing for the answers
Hi Y'all,
I am so upset! I sat in the darn doctors office for an hour and a half before
they even called me back.....then they took so long I missed my Physical therapy
appointment...and when I was in the doctors office the darned doctor said I
probably wont ever get on disability besause a lot of people fake fibro so
social security doesnt usually let people with fibro have their disability.....I
am just fed up with this...people look at me and ask me to do things that
cant....like today there are christmas trees that all the people in our
apartment complex are suppose to put up....well a few of them said...Dianne why
dont you decorate the atrium....GRRRR....I wish I knew where the resources I
once found on the net about social security and fibro...there was a form and
some other things...anyone have any ideas? Sorry for my rambling....
Have a great Day

Hello folks. My name is Eunice. I am 53, and although I have not been
"officially" diagnosed with Fibro (ie trigger points, etc) I was diagnosed
with Chronic Fatigue syndrome about 10 years ago. And I'm a nurse who sees a
lot of FM patients. The fact that the researchers are now linking CFIDS and
FM does not surprise me, as I have some of ther symptoms of both, and most of
the symptoms that both of them share. During the early time with CFIDS, I
was only able to work part-time, and even that was rough. Now I am back to
full time, although I work 4 10 hour days, so I jdo have 3 days off at a
time. I'm also lucky because my spouse is retired (medically), so does the
shopping, cooking etc, so I can come home and collapse, which I do very
frequently. I'm on a number of meds, including muscle relaxers at bedtime,
NSAIDS, and pain meds on occasion. But I feel very lucky that I am still
able to work, and grateful that I have the spousal support that I do. I'll
look forward to learning more about all of you. We all need to take care of
each other, and give special support during the rough times, and celebration
during the good times. Have a restful and pain-free day tomorrow.

Thanks so much Dianne. I also tryed to get dissability, but did not have
enough work credits, lol.I work part time, for my parents in 1 of their
offices, just answering the phone, but miss doing hair.I did sue the other
ladys insurance co,and won a small settlement the first time, and just found
out tonight,I have 2 more disc hurniations and 1 pressing on my nerve, along
with my 2 from the last accident.I will sue again, for my damage and pain and
suffering I will go through the rest of my life. The money means nothing with
out my health, but at least I will get something out of these 2 no fault of
mine accidents.Keep fighting for dissability, and get a laywer if you must.I
would have got dissability, because I had lot of information and enough
medical evedience ,and a laywer, and other then being shy 2 work credits,I
would have got it,so dont give up.Most eventually get it,but you have to
have MRI,x-rays or lots of medical reports, and I had my Neurologist feel out
a work sheet from Dr,Starnyl, that I printed out on the computer, and he
filled it out, wich really showed how I could not even work 1/3 of a shift.I
had no money ,and my husband pays such high child support, that we can hardly
live,SO i had to go get a job,and I just are with the pain.It stinks we have
to suffer and cant get dissability,or ven get alot of people to take us
seriously, but I will not give up,and I will fight .I will emai lyou and you
feel free to do the same. Were the accidents caused by another driver? Hugs!

Dear Dianne & Larry.....
Thanks so much for sending out the recipe for the hand dip- I'm sure
that I'll be one to give it a try!....
The hands are one of my downfalls with the fibro, and I miss being able to
keep in touch with all of the old time friends from my pc world.... Here's
hoping it works out for many of us!....
Soft caring hugs to all....
Always, Cheryl in Colorado.....
~~Remember the eyes are the window to the soul~~
I wanted to share this with all of you Ladies,
As some of you may know I am being treated(FINALLY) for a condition called
fibromyalgia....anyway my new physical therapist gave me this to try and finally
my hand dont feel so bad......makes me wish I could do this to my whole
body.....anyway I thought y'all might like to try it if you havent ...its great!
home paraffin bath
Crock pot
2 ponds Gulf wax (paraffin)
1/2 cup white(clear) mineral oil
candy thermometer
plasic wrap
towel
Prep:
Slowly heat the paraffin and oil til melted. be very care ful to do this with
supervision so as to not let it ignite. once it is melted let it cool to 125
degrees or until a thin white film forms on the top.
treatment:
Wash hands thoroghly and pat dry. Quickly and breifly dip hand into paraffin.
Wait til paraffin layer on hand turns whiteand looses its shine. repeat 9 times
for a total of 10 times......loosely wrap hand in plastic wrap then
toweling.......leave on for 20 minutes...then remove towels and wrap...then
wax......it can be reused several times...DO NOT DO IF SKIN IS BROKEN OR
IRRITATED!
Have a great Day

Cheryl I'm so sorry you are going through so much. It sounds like you've got
a good dr. I hope everyone else is all right. It's been a busy day here. I'm
without a car, because my dh's car is wrecked. He totalled it Monday. What a
mess, but...he is fine. That's all that's important. Everyone take care and
write in so we know how you are doing. Cheryl thank you for your information
maybe it can help someone else. I take celebrex too. But my dr won't give
out narcotics. She always says she's afraid to go that way. I'm doing good
enough for now.
painfree wishes, Lee
Hi Lee, and all....
I'm sorry to not have answered so many sent letters- thanks to all of
you for the wonderful support!....
My life was loaded when I first signed in with all of you, a baby sisters
wedding to help take care of, a major task in it's self!.... <sigh>
It was held last Sat. and I'm thankful it's over with, but I wouldn't of
missed it for the world- it also laid me out flat on my back with a major
flare for three days, whoa! what an experience!!!....
I'm still in the in and out of it stages, but with a 13 yr old nephew around
to help out for the week, it's been a God send to me!....
Went to my rumo doc Tues. crying the blues and unable to move, at least he
saw the physical pain I was in and didn't go poking around on me.... <sigh>
He has refereed me to a chronic pain expert in our area which I will see on
the 15th.- my rumo doc say's that I'm a mess and he's not sure what to do
next with me- little does he know I'm not certain what to do with myself at
times!!! <soft smile>
Lee- you asked what meds. we were all on for the FMS, well mine is FMS\MPS
complex- not sure if these will help you out or not....
I take neurontin 300mg. caps three of them three times a day, it's for the
numbness in the feet, legs, hands and face- also to help the fibrofog....
celebrex 200mg. twice a day, it's for the inflammation and pain.... The last
has been my lifesaver roxicodone 10mg. two tabs. three times a day as needed
for the pain....
The doc's worry is this tho, I've been on the last one for over three months
and it's a narcodic.... <sigh> Sometimes you can't win for losing, but thank
God I'm still here to at least talk about it all.....
Question for all of you now- other than your online support group do you
attended any other groups in your areas???.... I'm finding it difficult at
best to find one in my area and I'm fairly a metro area, Denver.... Any
suggestions???
Soft caring hugs to you all.... {{{{{}}}}}}
Always, Cheryl in Colorado....
Ok ....I am going to try abd send another message to this list...I dont recall
if I have had one that made it thru or not....my memory isnt what it use to be,
thanks to this darn fibro.....I finally have been to a physical therapist and my
oh my does she know her stuff. I had my evaluation with her on monday and she
checked for tender points and surprise...I had them all....just once I wish I
didnt have to excell at everything! well, by Monday night I knew I was gonna be
in for trouble...Tuesday was a blur...so much pain....I tried getting up at 9
am...that didnt happen then I tried again at 11am.....took a shower with help
and got dressed with help.....and went back to bed....wasnt really close to
myself til about 5pm....When I say "myself " I mean the me I have
become......Can any of you tell me if this kind of thing is normal? I have never
had a flare up this bad...and it really scares me....I mean I am 30 and I feel
like i am 60...any answers to my questions would be appreciated...
Have a great Day

I am very sore today. But in reality it is my own darn
fault.....hubby and I went up to Evansville where I met and went shopping with
an online buddy.....Luckily and completly by chance a good day yesterday......
Lee, my new doc put me on a new drug called Vioxx it helps
with pain and inflamation......I get to take 3 in one day if I need them....It
works like this....I take one in the morning...if in an hour I am still hurting
then I can take another....and in another hour I can take the third and last
one for the day.....they are ok....I suppose but I figure I have onlt been on
them for a little over a week....
Have a great Day

Hi, I just thought I'd check in on everyone. How are you all? It's been a
busy week. Pain wise I'm at a 5. Not too bad I guess. I have to go to the
doctors next week. I really hate going, lol. I need new pain med but my md
seems to think darvocet is good enough. What do all of you take? I guess if
I feel any worse by next week I'll try asking again. It shouldn't be that
hard to get what you need. She really isn't so bad she just doesn't like
giving out other pain meds for some reason. Write and tell me what you're on
so I can know what to ask about. Everyone have a great weekend!

Hi....
Hopefully you can help me to understand you posting process a little
better.... I thought I'd set it up to post notes onto an open forum, but when
I wrote my note- people are responding to me via E-mail?....
I'm so very new to all of this, and was a Prpdigy Classic poster for 12
years, it's the onyl forum I've ever known....
It's all so mixed up for me, then trying to come to terms with FMS as well
has not helped me- perhaps you can help me to get straightened out up there
and do it right?..... <soft smiles>
Thank you....
Always, Cheryl....more confused than ever tonight
Hi Cheryl in Colorado
My name is Ann I live in Australia. I have been diagnosed with FMS since Jan
98. I have had it for many years along with CFS but Dr's would not listen to
me. When I first was diagnosed it was a big shock to think that I really was
sick and that it wasn't me. I was studying at the time and had to give it
up. It took me a year to really come to terms with it all and accept it. The
Dr kept telling me I would be better in a few months and every time they
passed I would get depressed. Finally they have told me I will be like this
for life.
Cheer up there are lots of us out in the big wide world with FMS we are all
suffering and in pain with you.:))
Ann
A dear friend of mine whom I've known for a number of years sent your site to me
the other day- I must say I'm grateful!....
It's nice to know there's an online support group out here for people with
FMS....
I'm realtively new to all of this, been diagnosed about 3-4 months now, and I
don't mind saying it's a scarry situation to say the very least!....:(
I've contacted my local chapter for arthritis and they've sent out several
pieces to me- altho not much on FMS.... Also wrote to FMS network as well and
only recieved a few connection in my area for local support groups. it's not
easy trying to get connected, even if your in what you thought to be a large
community!.... <sigh>
I've been in a major flare for about 3 weeks now, it's reduced me to the O2 all
night long, as well as my wheelchair and feeling a bit lost about now....:(
Also wonder sometimes if my familt will ever truly understand what I'm going
through???.... Does, or has anyone ever felt this way when first
diagnosed???....
So many questions in my head tonight in finding all of you- but so very hard to
type at this time.... I'd hoped to see some other notes out here- feel a bit as
if I'm a stranger in a strange land.... <sigh>
Well dear ones, I hope to hear from some of you- perhaps see some other notes
out here that will help to give me new understanding to yet another new syndrome
I carry....
God bless you all....
Always, Cheryl in Colorado....
