Nutrition & Biomedical Intervention   Message List

Hi - this is Lana Rush, mom of Lily, a 2 year old with JS. I'm just wondering
if any of you have ever tried any dietary interventions, such as the gluten-free
casein-free diet? Lily has been on the diet since December and we believe it
has made a marked difference in her eye contact as well as more intentional
"communication" with us. Lily still doesn't speak but she is babbling lots
more, with inflection and excitement. She has also begun saying "all done" at
the end of her therapy sessions! I have not actually tracked her growth/weight
gain since we started because neither of those have been an issue for her since
she had her VSD repair at 4 months of age.

We are also doing some biomedical interventions - things like vitamins &
minerals. We recently performed a urine & stool test which indicated that Lily
had a bacterial infection in her GI system. It also revealed that she has a lot
of yeast in her gut. So we have just begun treating these with a short course
of antibiotic, followed by anti-fungal & probiotic treatment.

Have any of you ever tried any thing like this? Just curious...
