Hi Linzee,
Our son Daniel is almost 4 and the biggest challenge we are having
is with speech. Daniel can say a number of words but cannot group
them into sentences. (though he can sing some songs including Old
McDonald and his ABC's!) as a result he gets frustrated. You can tell
he is frustrated because he will hit his head with his hand or bang his
head on the floor. If however we stop and tell him to "use your words"
he will start saying many unrelated words (mostly names of family and
friends from school)and this will calm him down. He wants to talk so
badly.
We are moving him to another school where the kids are more advanced
in hopes that he will have role models that will challenge him in the
areas of speech and eating and his motor skills. We are also working
with him to encourage his speech by talking to him and waiting for
responses.
As you know, it is a slow go but we are seeing progress.
Thanks again for all you are doing to help us keep in touch. :-)
