With my daughter Laci (who is 4) it is hit or miss, she is eather very friendly or wouldnt go to you even if you payed her money! When she was younger she was very friendly, like others and it was scary!
As for brest feeding, she was also tube fed for about a week. This I thaught made it harder for her to latch on. She had little intrest in even bottle feeding. I later found out that she had an inlarged pallet, this came after trying EVERY nipple under the sun. Finily we had to order ones from GERBER. And then about 3 months latter she went to the cup, thank goodness. I wanted despretly to brest feed, but looking back it did her no harm to be bottle feed, and I couldnt have brest feed anyway...

Hi! I'm new, so I'll introduce myself. I'm Kristen, mom to 3-month- old Ayah. She was diagnosed with 11q deletion by coincidence, in a way. A skinny little thing anyway, she lost nearly 10% of her body weight in the first two days out here and was sent to the NICU. After switching to a bottle, which was way harder for mom than anyone else, she did much better. Ayah was all set to go home, but the doctors wanted to recheck one little anomaly on her CBC. That's when we found out she had low platelets. After a barrage of tests and a few more days in the hospital, we finally found out about the deletion in addition to the fact that my platelets were attacking hers. We're still waiting to talk to the docs about what type of deletion/where, etc. as well was what this whole platelet attack thing was. In the meantime, Ayah is doing very well for herself. Besides the thrombocytopenia and a little trouble
eating efficiently, she's right on track so far. We've been hooked up with Birth to 3, and the OT is lots of fun (and lots of help for all of us!).
I haven't gotten a chance to read old posts, but I wanted to bring up breastfeeding. Has anyone been successful at feeding their 11q baby? Ayah likes it, but, again, isn't the best at it. She tires quickly, sometimes has a shallow latch, and has taken to biting (with her gums) in the past week.
Whew, school finally started.... I am new to the yahoo group, but many of you already know me from conferences, and I'm proud to be the Secretary/Editor for...
